HAWKS RIDGE GOLF CLUB

As we head into late summer-early fall the biggest task at Golf Course Maintenance is the aerification of the greens.  Aerifying the greens is a very important task in the long term health of the bentgrass.  The major benefits are the reduction of thatch and getting more oxygen to the root zone.  With the warm fall temperatures, recovery should only be 2-3 weeks and greens should be rolling very good.  Also with the summer heat, ball marks on the greens seem to always get worse.  Please remember to properly repair a ball mark.  Always push from the outside of the mark to the middle.  When repaired correctly you should only see green grass and no brown.  I would also like to encourage all the members to play the par-3 course more often.  It is a great spot to improve your short game and I feel is very under played.  Come out early and take an hour to play it.  As always if you have any questions or concerns about the course please feel free to give me a call.
