GCM Update - Beginning of March

You have probably noticed there is spotty bentgrass coming back on the new zorro zoysia tees.  Although we sprayed a high rate of weed kill (Roundup) before the conversion, some bentgrass survived. This is one of the growing pains of converting bentgrass to zoysia. When it warms up just a little, we are spraying an herbicide (Revolver) on the tees.  This application should eradicate the bentgrass from the zoysia tees.

March 11-13, we are aerifying all the greens.  This is a very important process to remove organic matter from the top profile of the soil. It is the number one process to insure the long term health of the greens. Our greens are 15 years old and are still going strong! Recovery should be quick with the warming spring temperatures.

Cont. Golf Course Partnership - Bunker Maintenance
I would like to briefly touch on proper bunker care.  It is important members & guests properly groom the bunker.  By simply running the rake over footprints and divots, it leaves the bunker surface uneven and tough to play for the next golfer.  Please spend a few more seconds grading to the bottom of the bunker so that it is perfectly smooth.  With your help, this will insure the bunker is in perfect shape!

As always, please. be sure to check the ‘Member Calendar’ on the Hawks Ridge website for the latest news, updates, and changes. Should we have any unexpected weather this week, we will update you immediately on course conditions and a forecast for the repairs.
